Quake III Arena

The Freebrief team has been very active in creating additions for the successful Quake III Arena action game. So far the team has released one new map and a very advanced tool known as Particle Studio, which can be used to design particle effects for this game.

The map, Mysthy Dungeon, was released quite some time ago but it's still being downloaded. It's not a very big map and not really state of the art, but it's design is surprisingly original and the gameplay is marvelleous. If you haven't got a high speed internet connection, this map still guarantees a lot of fun due to it's small file size and good botplay.

Particle Studio is a revolutionary tool that has had many application in various very beautiful maps. It can be used to create effects such as smoke, sparkles and it's also used for creating snow and even fireworks. It's very straightforward and easy to use for it's user friendly interface. You can create a very nice particle effect that substantially adds to your map's atmosphere in less than 15 minutes. To ensure you won't have difficulties using the program, there is an elaborate manual available on this site supplemented by a printer-friendly version.

Maps

Mysthy Dungeon This is a small map that nevertheless has the largest amount of lava ever seen in a reasonably sized multiplayer map. Because of the gameplay consequences this element has, a lot of fun will be had when the download finishes.

Tools

Particle Studio This is one of the best development tools created for Quake 3. Make sure to check it out. You can use it to create truly astonishing effects in your maps.
